1. Niger President Replaces Buhari As ECOWAS Chairman

Niger President, Issoufou Mahamadou ha been elected by the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government as chairman of the Economic Comunity Of West African States (ECOWAS).

Naija News understands that President Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger is to chair ECOWAS for a one-year term.

2. Saraki Exposes EFCC Boss Magu

The immediate past President of Nigerian Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki has made a revelation about the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

Naija News understands that Saraki in his latest revelation said that the boss of the EFCC had visited him in 2016 and begged him to ensure that he was confirmed by the Senate.

3. Atiku Files N2.5bn Libel Suit Against Buhari’s Aide

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has filed N2.5bn libel suit against Lauretta Onochie, the Special Assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that the former Vice-President sued Onochie for her alleged libelous tweet via her Twitter handle on May 7, 2019, which suggested that Abubakar was on the watch list of security operatives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had traveled to shop for terrorists in the Middle East.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rubbished reports of infighting over President Muhammadu Buhari‘s yet to be constituted cabinet.

5. Two Die, Others Missing In Lagos Boat Accident

Two persons have been confirmed dead, while an undisclosed number of persons are still missing after a passenger boat capsized in Lagos state.

Naija News reports that boat loaded with 20 passengers had taken off from Badore in Ajah enroute Egbin jetty, Ijede in Ikorodu on Saturday evening when it capsized.

6. Electricity: National Grid Collapses

The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Sunday announced that the National Grid experienced a system collapse due to high voltage.

According to a statement, the General Manager Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, stated that the high voltage occurred following a massive drop of load by the electricity distribution companies.
