Buhari Reacts To Ayokunle’s Re-election As CAN President

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Dr. Samson Ayokunle on his re-election as President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

In a statement on Tuesday by his media aide Garba Shehu, Buhari congratulated church leaders and Christendom for the successful election.

According to the president, his administration would continue to strengthen the cordial relationship that has existed, especially in tackling the challenges facing Nigeria.

He noted that Rev. Ayokunle’s maturity, humility and wise counsel to governments would go a long way in healing and putting the country on the right track for development.

Naija News recalls that Ayokunle, who is the National President for the Nigerian Baptist Convention, was re-elected for another three-year term on Tuesday.

He won re-election after scoring 59 votes.

His closest challenger, Rev Dr Caleb Ahima, scored 44 votes.

Ahima, according to the CAN constitution, becomes the Vice-President of the organisation.
