Ahmed Lawan Clarifies Statement On 2023 Presidency
Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has distanced himself from the statement endorsing the South West to take over Nigeria’s presidency in 2023.
Naija News recalls Lawan had been credited with a statement saying power must be transferred to the South West when President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in office expires.
The Senate President in his clarification, stated that there was a mixup in the identity and source of the statement.
He revealed that the Lawan who made the statement is the APC secretary in Adamawa State who incidentally shares the same name with him.
“My attention has been drawn to a statement circulating on various media platforms credited to me as saying that power must shift to the South West in 2023. This is a misrepresentation of fact and identity.
The statement is said to have been made by the Secretary of Adamawa State APC, Ahmed Lawan, who incidentally bears similar name with me. The public should please take note,” the Senate President said in a tweet on Monday.
