Gorilla Swallows N10 Million Eid Revenue Fund In Kano

A gorilla has reportedly swallowed the sum of N10 million generated from tourists who visited a zoo in Kano, northern Nigeria, during the Eid celebrations, Finance officers at the zoo have said.

According to the Finance officers, a huge gorilla sneaked into their office and swallowed the N10 million.

Naija News reports that Peter Okwoche, a broadcast journalist with British Broadcasting Organisation (BBC), made this known on the mico-blogging site, Twitter, on Friday, June 14.

Okwoche tweeted: “Finance officers at a zoo in #Kanostate, northern #Nigeria, claim that a huge gorilla sneaked into their office and swallowed N10 million (about $30k).

“The money was revenue generated from tourists who visited the zoo during the Eid celebrations,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that the development is coming a month after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, arraigned Philomena Chishe, a controversial official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and five others for trial over alleged N36million fraud.

Chishe was arraigned before Justice Peter Afen at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

This online news platform understands that Chishe is being prosecuted on an eight-count charge bordering on fraud following her refusal to furnish the management of JAMB the true information on the financial status of JAMB e-cards supplied to the Benue Zonal office between 2014 and 2016.
