1. APC, Govs, Lawmakers-elect Endorse Lawan, Gbajabiamila

National leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), governors and National Assembly members-elect of the ruling party on Monday endorsed Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila for Senate President and Speaker, respectively.

Also endorsed were Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Idris Wase as Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker, respectively.

2. President Buhari Signs Bill For June 12 Democracy Day Holiday

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the public Holiday Amendment bill into law.

Naija News reports that Senator Ita Enang, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly matters (Senate), made this known to State House correspondents after signing ceremony.

3. Atiku vs Buhari: Tribunal Strikes Out Petition, Adjourns Sitting

The 2019 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, the Nation’s capital resumed hearing on Monday in the suit filed by Atiku Abubakar and others challenging Muhammadu Buhari’s election victory.

At the resumed hearing today, the Presidential Tribunal struck out the 3rd Petition filled by Coalition for Change following their withdrawal.

4. Certificate Of Return: INEC Reveals When It Will Decide Okorocha’s Fate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will be meeting tomorrow (today) to look at the Court rulings on the issuance of certificates of return to Rochas Okorocha.

Naija News recalls the 9th National Assembly will be inaugurated tomorrow as it might be impossible for the former Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha be part of the election of the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives is also expected to emerge at its first plenary session the same Tuesday.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has on Monday revealed a report concerning the 2019 presidential election that brought President Muhammadu Buhari back into office for his second term as Nigeria’s President.

The HRW report comes in few months after Buhari (APC) defeated his closest counterpart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar in the presidential elections.

7. Adebo Ogundoyin Emerges Oyo State Assembly Speaker

Thirty-two-year-old, Adebo Ogundoyin has been elected as the Oyo state house Assembly Speaker.

Naija News understands that Ogundoyin, a graduate of Babcock University emerged unopposed and with the unanimous voice vote of the 32 members Assembly.

8. Atiku vs Buhari: Garba Replaces Bulkachuwa On The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal

Justice Mohammed L. Garba has replaced Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa as the head of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Justice Garba is the presiding Justice of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

9. FG Announces Wednesday, June 12 As Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, 2019, as Public Holiday to commemorate the maiden National Democracy Day celebration in Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

10. Troops Kills 9 Social Media Personalities Of Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army, today said it killed nine “social media personalities” of the Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP).

A statement by Col. Sagir Musa, Army Director Public Relations said the annihilation of members of the terrorists’ media team further confirmed that the Nigerian Army has decimated the group and they no longer have freedom of action.
