Alleged Cultists Shoot Lady To Death Over Phone
Some unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a middle-aged lady over her refusal to release her phone to the gunmen.
Naija News reports that the lady identified as Janet Okoro was killed on Saturday on Edede street in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
The victim of the attack who hails from Ebonyi state was accosted by the cult group on her way home on Saturday, March 2.
According to reports, the cult boys had been operating in the area in recent times and several incidents of such had also been recorded in the area in recent times.
A source who witnessed the incident and requested anonymity said in his words; “The lady was stopped by some cult boys on Edede Street, who demanded her phone; the victim refused and the boys shot her and made away with the phone.”
Janet Okoro was later after the attack, rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, where she was confirmed dead by medical doctors on duty.
While confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said investigation had already commenced into the killing.
The police spokesperson, who stated that the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue, assured the residents in the area that the Police is doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.
