Election Results: Sokoto-North Re-elects Senator Wamakko

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Sokoto North Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has been re-elected by his constituency.

Wamakko defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmed Muhammad-Maccido, by 172,980 votes to 138,922 votes.

The Returning Officer, Sokoto North Senatorial District, Prof. Atiku Garba Yahaya, declared the APC candidate winner of the poll at the state collation centre on Monday.

Wamakko won in all the eight local government areas in the senatorial district. He had beaten Maccido to take the senatorial seat.

Meanwhile, the APC candidate for Sokoto-North/Sokoto-South Federal Constituency, Bala Abubakar, has also won Saturday’s election into the House of Representatives defeating the candidate of the PDP, Abubakar Abdullahi.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Aminu Mohammed of Usman Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto, declared the Abubakar winner at the Sokoto-North LGA secretariat, venue of the collation, on Monday.

APC won 71,486 against PDP’s 52,148 in the election held on Saturday.
