The arrest of the Leader of a Kidnapping gang responsible for the kidnap a staff of the National Population Commission, one Engr Amasike Ameleonye in July by the Imo State Police Command has led to wide jubilation in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Monday.

The gang of Kidnappers had kidnapped Amasike in July after shooting his police orderly and snatching his AK47 rifle in Okwelle in the Onuimo Local Government Area of the state.

The state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, who briefed journalists at the command’s headquarters said that the arrest of the kidnap kingpin, Chukwuemeka Uzoukwu, was a major breakthrough in crime fighting in the state.

“His name is Chukwuemeka Uzoukwu, 23, aka White. He is from Uhusieke Owerri Nkworji in Imo State. He has been on our wanted list.”
