The letter of defection presented by two lawmakers before the Ogun State House of Assembly have been rejected following the failure to prove crisis or division in the All Progressive Congress (APC)

Suraj Adekunbi, the speaker of the house had read separate letters intimating the House at the plenary on Tuesday that Mr. Biyi Adeleye (Remo North constituency ) and Mr Harrison Adeyemi (Ogun Waterside constituency) had defected from the All Progressive Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Adeleye, in his letter, asserted that APC had been polarised into two factions.

He had cited division and crisis in the APC at the state and national levels as reasons for defecting.

He added that his new political party share the similar political idealogies with him.

However, the majority leader, Yinka Mafe, who spoke after the Speaker had read the letters to the House, had argued that the party was not polarised either at the state or national level.

Mafe said, “APC has one party chairman in the person of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“It will be unfortunate if we allow it to go down that the APC has been divided whereas the party has not been divided.

“I want you to tell him to prove to this House that the APC is divided. If he cannot prove it, the Speaker should use his office to do the needful.”

The Speaker, however, noted that there was no crisis or division in APC both at the state and national level.

He, however requested that the letter be trashed since there is no credibility and truth in the reasons advance by the lawmakers in questions.

He said, “On this note, the matter will be set aside until the lawmakers are able to prove to the House that there are crises in the party.”

Also during plenary, the Speaker read the defection letter of Mr. Bowale Solaja (Ijebu North constituency), who defected from the PDP to the APC.
