Ekiti shooting: Only God Saved Me, Others–Fayemi
Dr Kayode Fayemi, a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, on Tuesday narrated Friday’s shooting incident in which he and others escaped death at a rally held at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.
The governorship aspirant said that the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, former federal lawmaker, Opeyemi Bamidele, and Adeyeye were only spared by God’s intervention.
“We thank God that we are alive. What do you think would have happened if Gov. Akeredolu, Adeyeye , Bamidele and I had died? It was possible for the bullets to have hit and killed all of us, but we thank God
“We are grateful that God just prevented it.
“The unprecedented crowd we saw at the welcome reception organised for me and how people were rushing out shows that Ekiti people are determined to fight a liberation war against Gov. (Ayo) Fayose,’’ he said.
Fayemi added that he is not moved by the situation as he was ready to lead the people out of the captivity of governor fayose.
NAN reports that he also assured the supporter of Adeyeye that they would not be shortchange when he becomes the governor of the state as their interest would also been seen to.
Naija News understands that he described Adeyeye’s defection from the PDP to APC as a big boost which would help achieve victory.
While refuting the allegation that he would sack teachers when he become the governor of the state, he stated that he was vying for the seat to ensure that the interest of civil servants are seen to.
Adeyeye, in his remarks, said he and his supporters decided to join the APC because of the personality of Fayemi.
“We decided to join APC because the party nominated a good person like Dr Fayemi as its candidate.
” He is highly educated and exposed, he is not crude like somebody else; we are going to deliver our votes for him,’’ he said.
