Barcelona And Man. City Dumped Out Of The Champions League As Liverpool And Roma Make Progress

Barcelona suffered a shocking quarter final exit from the Champions League after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Roma which means they loose out on away goals after the game ended 4-4 on aggregate.

Roma completed a remarkable European comeback as goals from Edin Dzeko, Daniele De Rossi and Kostas Manolas ensured Barcelona were dumped out in the quarter final stage of the competition.

Barca, earlier won the first leg by four goals to one, meaning the fixture ended on a 4-4 aggregate.

In his reaction to the defeat, Spain international midfielder, Busquets described it as a sad night to forget.

“It’s very difficult to be honest.”

“A sad night, one to forget. They beat us in all the ways, they took us where they wanted because they needed a big result, and unfortunately they got it,” Busquets said.

Meanwhile, Liverpool also completed the double over Manchester City in their second leg quarter final match up.

Liverpool won 2-1 on the night, to record a 5-1 aggregate win over City, in a match which saw Pep Guardiola sent to the stands after the first half of the game following a confrontation with match officials.

City were quick to get out of the blocks, as Gabriel Jesus found the back of the net as early as the second minute of the game.

Bernado Silva hit the post, and Leroy Sane had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside during the game, but Liverpool fully deserved to move into the semi-final stage of the Champions league.
