  • Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal contract expires at the end of this season
  • He currently earns £140,000 a week with Arsenal offering around £250,000
  • But despite his poor form, Ozil believes he deserves a £300,000 a week contract
  • Arsenal are reluctant to increase the offer, owing to concerns over commitment

Ozil has 13 months to run on his deal

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is demanding a mouthwatering £300,000-a -week deal to stay at the Emirates as his contract expires at the end of 2017/18 season.

Ozil has 13 months to run on his existing deal and if he fails to agree a new contract the club may look to offload him at a cut-price this summer.

Like Alexis Sanchez, Ozil wants around £300,000-a-week but his performances in recent months have done little to show he’s deserving of such a wage.

But there is a feeling behind the scenes at the Emirates that such a deal is not value for money. Ozil has under-performed this season, particularly in recent weeks as Arsenal’s league form dipped.
