One Seiyefa Okorie, a member of the Peace Corps of Nigeria has been arrested with a locally made pistol in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

Police in Bayelsa arrested him for allegedly selling drugs and robbery in Yenagoa and environs.

According to Bayelsa State Police spokesman, DSP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the arrest in Yenagoa, said: “The synergy between Bayelsa State Police Command and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Bayelsa State paid off with the arrest.

“In a raid on a criminal hideout at Amarata, Yenagoa, operatives arrested Seiyefa Okorie, 33, member of the proscribed Peace Corps of Nigeria and recovered a locally-made pistol from him.”

Naija News recalls that the Peace corps and the Nigerian Police have been at logger heads over the sealing of the national headquarters of the corps, with the police refusing to unseal the building despite court orders to that effect.
