Hoarded Petrol, Vehicles Catches Fire At Illegal Fuel Depot In Yola

Amidst the fuel scarcity biting hard across several states of the federation, an illegal fuel depot has been razed down by fire late Wednesday night in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Naija News gathered that the depot, which is located beside a famous road junction called Roundabout Maidoki, near the entrance gate of the Yola International Airport, Jimeta, caught fire at about 6:30 pm as narrated by eyewitnesses.

Eyewitnesses were reported to have said the fire destroyed uncertain quantities of fuel said to have been bought and stored at the depot by a major black marketer in the area.

Naija News also learnt that the fire which was reported to have burnt into the night also destroyed other things yet to be known and an unconfirmed number of vehicles parked around the depot at the time.

News from Yola revealed that as of Wednesday morning, fuel was selling at least N300 per litre in the few filling stations opened for business while black marketers were selling the product for between ₦1,700 and ₦2,000 for a 4-litre gallon.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
