Since the first edition of the Big Brother Show premiered on May 23, 2003, many young people from different countries in Africa have gained the opportunity to come into the limelight within a short period.

Apart from the entertainment and drama, the show also turned winning housemates into millionaires and in this article, Naija News highlights five females who have also emerged winners on the reality TV show.

The winners are not limited to Nigeria alone but include those who won the African version of the reality show.

1. Cherise Makubale: The reality TV star from Zambia was the proud winner of the very first season of Big Brother Africa (BBA). She beat 11 housemates to take home the prize money of $100,000 on September 7, 2003 after 106 days in the Biggie house.

2. Karen Igho: She made history as the first female and the third consecutive Nigerian to win the reality TV show.

Igho was named co-winner of the 2011 edition of BBA alongside Zimbabwean housemate Wendall Robert Parson and they recieved the $400,000 prize money.

3. Dillish Mattews: The beautiful lady from Namibia (Southern Africa) won the 2013 edition of BBA and received the $300, 000 grand prize.

Dillish made history as the first Namibian to win the reality TV show.

Mercy Eke

4. Mercy Eke: The Nigerian video vixen and brand influencer who hails from Imo state won season 4 of Big Brother Naija in October 2019, becoming the first female to win the Nigerian version of the reality show.

Mercy Eke beat 25 housemates in the stiff competition to win the N60 million grand prize.

5. Ijeoma Otabo (Phyna): She became the second female housemate to win the Nigerian version of the reality TV show after Mercy.

Phyna emerged as the winner of the ‘Level Up’ edition ahead of Bryann, who was the first runner-up. The reality TV star received N100 million grand prize.
