Former senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has reacted to the attack on The Guards Bridge by suspected terrorists in Abuja on Monday.

Naija News recall that the soldiers of the 7 Guards Battalion were on routine patrol along Kubwa – Bwari road when they ran into the ambush by the suspected terrorists in the nation’s capital city.

The development is said to have caused panic among many residents of Abuja.

The terrorists were reportedly heading to the Nigerian Law School in Bwari when they ran into the troops, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which three soldiers were injured.

According to one of the military sources quoted by The Nation, the three soldiers, who were injured during the attack, have been evacuated to the hospital for treatment.

Reacting, Dino Melaye consoled the family of the military personnel who was killed during the attack.

Expressing surprise that such an act could happen in the nation’s capital, the former lawmaker said the country is no longer the same.

He said: “My condolence to Col Babanawa for the loss of his son a Nigerian soldier who was ambushed with his colleagues by Bandits and kiiled around Bwari yesterday. May his soul rest in peace. This country is not the country we know anymore. Inside FCT ooooo.” [sic]

Terrorists Vow To Kidnap Buhari, El-Rufai

The Abuja terrorist ambush comes barely a week after members of the Islamic State In West African Province (ISWAP) threatened to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

In the video that surfaced online, the terrorists were seen flogging some of the victims kidnapped on a Kaduna-bound train on March 28, 2022.

The terrorists also threatened to kidnap and kill  Buhari and El-Rufai.

The gunmen in the video also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.
