Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State has refuted the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it was denied access to two rally venues in the state.

The state chapter of the PDP had claimed that it was denied the use of Osogbo Township Stadium, Technical College field and the Freedom Park, which it applied to use for its final campaign rally on Thursday.

Reacting to the claim in a chat with ThisDay on Thursday, the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Political Affairs, Sunday Akere, said the PDP failed to book the two venues on time.

Akere said the lack of organisation on the part of the opposition party cost them the said venues.

He said a youth group booked for the stadium ahead of the PDP, while the minibus union secured the freedom park.

Akere stated that not using a venue has no correlation with deployment of thugs, calling on security operatives to take cognisance of the threat issued by the PDP.

It is unfortunate that the PDP, due to lack of proper organisation, decided to book the venues after other groups have done so.

“Other parties have used many public facilities, it does not determine who wins an election. A youth group booked for the stadium ahead of them, while the mini bus union is using the freedom park,” he said.
