The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would not be holding its National Convention on Saturday, February 26 as earlier announced again.

Naija News understands the APC would now announce a new date for the conduct of its much-anticipated convention.

This is as the party has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that instead of its National Convention, it will be holding zonal congresses first.

The letter to that effect, dated Monday, February 21, 2022, and jointly signed by the chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, and secretary of the committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe was addressed to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

APC noted in the letter seen by our correspondent that Monday’s notice supercedes its earlier notice to INEC about the conduct of a National Convention.

It urged the electoral body to send representatives to monitor its zonal congress scheduled to hold on March 26, 2022.

No new date was however communicated for the conduct of the APC National Convention.

“This notice supersedes our earlier notice for National Convention referenced APC/NHDQ/INEC/O19/22/14 that is predicated on the evaluation of our party constitution,” the APC letter to INEC titled Notice for the conduct of zonal congresses’ reads in part.
