President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken against the recent killings in Omoku, Rivers State and in Sango LGA of Kaduna State.

He described the violent attacks as unacceptable and stated that the security agencies were working to unravel the cause of the attacks.

Buhari shared on his social media account:

“I received with dismay the reports of killings in Omoku, Rivers State and in Sango LGA of Kaduna State. This violence is unacceptable. Let me assure that security agencies are working to speedily bring the perpetrators to justice. May God comfort the families of the victims.”

Naija News recall that at least seventeen people were killed on Monday January 1, in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State, when unidentified gunmen shot at people returning from a New Year crossover service.

26 persons were reportedly shot in the attack, 14 persons died on the spot, while 12 injured victims were rushed to hospitals in the city were three other people gave up the ghost.
