1. Nigerian Senate Ready To Strip Buhari, Osinbajo, Others Of Immunity

The Senate has passed a bill through second reading which is set to expose all Nigerian Presidents, Vice -Presidents, Governors and their deputies to criminal trials.

Naija News understands that the bill sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege seeks to strip sitting Presidents, Vice Presidents, Governors, and their deputies, of their immunity.

2. El-Rufai Visits Muhammadu Sanusi In Awe

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has allegedly travelled to Awe, Nasarawa State to visit the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was dethroned over allegation of insubordination.

According to reports gathered from security sources, Governor El-Rufai left Kaduna on Thursday morning to visit the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

3. Ganduje vs Sanusi: Buhari Threatened To Impose State Of Emergency In Kano State

A report by the committee set up to intervene in the face-off between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari once threatened to declare a state of emergency in Kano State over the lingering crisis.

The report revealed the president had warned the two leaders to find a solution to the escalating crisis or he may be forced to impose a state of emergency on Kano if their actions threatened the peace of the state.

4. Nigeria Has Achieved Nothing With All The Money It Has Borrowed – Peter Obi

Anambra State former governor, Peter Obi has lamented that Nigeria has nothing to show for all the funds it has been borrowing for years.

This Obi said while reacting to the senate’s approval of the $22.7 billion loan request by President Muhammadu Buhari.

5. Ngige Declares ASUU Strike As Illegal And An Act Of Corruption

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige angrily reacted to the two-week warning strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Ngige in his reaction said that the warning strike which the union began on Monday was illegal and a pure act of corruption because the union failed to notify before embarking on the strike.

6. Minister Of Health Gives Update On Infected Italian, Others

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehnaire, on Thursday, announced that the Italian man infected with the dreaded Coronavirus in Nigeria will soon be discharged.

This is coming after the minister on Friday, February 28, 2020, announced the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos State.

7. Fani-Kayode Condemns Senator Bima’s Bill Seeking To Stop, Jail Generator Users In Nigeria

The minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the Senator representing Niger South, Muhammad Bima, for introducing a bill seeking to ban the importation of generators in Nigeria.

The bill introduced by Senator Bima scaled through first reading on the floor of the senate, on Wednesday.

8. Senate Committee To Present Report On The State Of Nigeria’s Security

Nigerian Senate has stated that the nation’s insecurity report would be ready next week.

This was made known by the chairman of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Security Challenges, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi (APC- Kebbi, who requested a week extension to enable the panel to conclude work.

9. 10 Aides Of Gov Ganduje In Assets Declaration Mess, Indicted By Code of Conduct Bureau

Just over two weeks after Governor Ganduje’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Mukhtar Ishaq got arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N86 million fraud, eleven (11) other aides have been involved in assets declaration mess.

A painstaking investigation by PRNigeria reveals that huge sums of money in local and foreign currency accounts, as well as physical assets by Gov Ganduje’s aides, were not properly declared to the statutory body, apart from defaulting and non-compliance with the statutes of the Code of Conduct Bureau.

10. President Buhari ‘Escapes Attack’ In Kebbi State

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday escaped what looked like an attempt to attack him in Argungu, Kebbi State.

As seen in the video making rounds on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, which was posted by @segalink, the President posed for a picture session with the Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and other dignitaries.
