The men of the Operation Skolombo anti-crime squad has arrested a serving policeman and five others in connection with the kidnappings in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The policeman whose identity was not revealed was arrested after five kidnap suspects, who were apprehended on Sunday allegedly implicated him.

According to Punch, the suspects and the policeman who resided at 8 Miles are being held at the Eburutu Barracks in Calabar.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Irene Ugbo, while speaking on the incident said: “I am not aware. For now, I have not heard anything about that. I have to find out.”

However, in a related story the Nigerian Chronicle account worker, Maurice Archibong, who was abducted last week has regained his freedom.

A source revealed that he was released after an undisclosed sum of money was paid as ransom. It was reported that his abductors demanded N1.5m from the family.
