PDP Reacts As INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Douye Diri

The Peoples Democratic Party has congratulated the people of Bayelsa State after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared its governorship candidate, Douye Diri as the winner of the gubernatorial election.

The party stated this after the electoral body presented the Certificate of return to its candidate after the Supreme Court ordered it to do so in a unanimous judgment.

INEC’s Commissioner in charge of Legal, May Agbamu-Uche Mbu had presented a certificate of return to Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjiakpo on Friday at its conference room.

This was minutes after the Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, declared Diri winner of the state governorship election.

The spokesperson of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, took to his Twitter account to react to the development: “Congratulations to the good people of Bayelsa as their mandate has been restored and cannot be taken away by the ranting of any individual who has no stake whatsoever in the wellbeing of his own home state.”
