37 year old Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress who has become an household name in the Nigerian music industry.

Here are some interesting quick facts about the Mavin Records first lady’s career.

*She was born as Tiwatope Savage-Balogun on 5th February, 1980 in Lagos State, Nigeria.

*She moved with her parents to the United Kingdom when she was just 11 years old.

*She was a trombone player for her high school’s orchestra band.

*She has a degree in professional music from the Berklee college of music.

*At only 16 years, she did backup vocals for Singers like George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Blu Cantrell. Chaka Khan, Ms. Dynamite and Andrea Bocelli.

*She participated in The X Factor UK in 2006 but unfortunately couldn’t go beyond the final 24.

*In 2009, Tiwa signed a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and she wrote songs for the likes of Kat Deluna, Babyface, Fantasia Barrino, Monica and Mya.

*She joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records in 2012.

*Her debut studio album, Once Upon a Time, was released on 3 July 2013. It was supported by the singles “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and “Eminado”.
