NYSC provides medical services for rural dwellers in Katsina
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has provided free medical services to not less than 1,000 rural dwellers in Doro village, Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The initiative is part of the mandate of its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
The state NYSC Coordinator, Mr John Okpo, made the revelation during his supervision of the programme in the area ,on Monday.
Okpo explained that HIRD is a programme initiated to medically assis rural dwellers in the state. He added that it is an intiative mobilises corps members who are medical doctors, pharmacists and other paramedics to deliver services through diagnosis, treatments and referrals, to rural dwellers.

The state cordinator also stated that the corps medical team traverses the rural areas to provide services most especially, in places where health services and health personnel were inadequate.
He noted that services rendered to the rural dwellers were provided free of charge.
Okpo said the NYSC shortlisted Doro for the programme because of its peculiarities.
He appreciated those who turned out enmasse to access the services in the area.
The Local Government Head of Administration, Alhaji Yahya Muhammad, appreciated the NYSC for choosing the area for the programme in the state.
He expressed that healthcare service was one of the cardinal sectors of the present administration.
Muhammad urged the beneficiaries to utilise the drugs provided to them optimally.
