Court Acquits Ex-minister Turaki Of Money Laundering Charges

A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted the arrest of the Deputy Director General (Admin) of Atiku Campaign Organization, Barr. Tanimu Turaki (SAN) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Naija News had quoted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, as saying the Turaki was arrested by the antigraft-agency on Monday.

This online news platform noted that the opposition party made this known in a statement issued on Monday night by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan.

In the statement, PDP warned that Turaki should be released immediately and unconditionally.

The statement said Turaki’s arrest and detention is part of the grand plot by the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use state apparatus of power to intimidate PDP leaders and scuttle PDP’s determination to reclaim our February 23, 2019, Presidential election victory in court.

“It is instructive to state that Tanimu Turaki was arrested and detained upon invitation by the EFCC to endorse a bail document for the Finance Director of Atiku Abubakar’s company, Babalele Abdullahi, who was arrested earlier by the commission over flimsy allegations,” the statement read in part.

Moments after the news broke, Nigerians took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to air their displeasures on the development.
