‘Peak Ignorance’ – Tinubu’s Aide Knocks Melaye Over ₦20,000 NELFUND Allowance Fee

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, has slammed African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dino Melaye, over a claim about the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Naija News reports that Melaye, in a video making rounds online, described NELFUND as a haven for corruption.

The former lawmaker argued that NELFUND and the Federal Government’s student loan scheme under President Bola Tinubu were questionable.

He questioned the ₦20,000 monthly upkeep allowance provided to student beneficiaries.

Melaye also challenged the administration’s description of the scheme as an initiative to pay students’ school fees, arguing that ₦20,000 could not reasonably cover annual tuition in government-owned tertiary institutions.

He said, “NELFUND is a haven of corruption. They are only giving students ₦20,000 each.

“Which government school takes ₦20,000 as annual school fees?

“Why is Tinubu claiming he’s paying students’ school fees when he’s giving them only ₦20,000?” 

In response, Dada, in a post via his 𝕏 handle, said Melaye is confusing himself and his gullible audience by equating the ₦20,000 monthly allowance fee with the main fees students are supposed to pay each session.

Dada wrote, “Peak ignorance from Dino Melaye. As usual, he is confusing himself and his gullible audience by equating the N20,000 per month allowance fee with the main fees students are supposed to pay each session.”
