2027: Tinubu Has No Competitor, Opposition In Tatters – Orji Uzor Kalu

The Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has no serious competitor ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying opposition parties lack the capacity to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Naija News understands that Kalu spoke in his hometown, Igbere, in the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, during a meeting with stakeholders of his political groups, the OUK Movement and Reality Organisation, as well as members of the APC in the state.

The former Abia State governor said the opposition remained divided and had yet to resolve its internal crises ahead of the general election.

“I can assure you, just like President Tinubu has no competitor in 2027, APC as a party has no challenge. The opposition in the country is in tatters; they are yet to put their houses in order and do not have the capacity to challenge APC,” Kalu said.

The lawmaker also defended the economic policies of the Tinubu administration, describing the President as a decisive leader willing to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country.

“Tinubu is what a good leader should be; he is not afraid of taking decisions. He is taking hard decisions for the interest of the country,” he stated.

Kalu acknowledged that the administration’s economic policies had yet to deliver all the desired results but maintained that progress was being recorded.

“The President’s economic policies may not have taken Nigeria to where it should be, but we are getting there. It is true we are still battling with the micro economy, but the macro economy is doing well,” he added.

Speaking on his representation of Abia North in the Senate, Kalu said he remained accountable to his constituents and would leave office whenever they withdrew their mandate.

According to him, no senatorial district in the country had performed better than Abia North in terms of attracting Federal Government projects.

He said his representation had facilitated the rehabilitation of several roads, reconstruction of schools and the distribution of uniforms and textbooks to pupils in the constituency.

Kalu expressed confidence that he would return to the Senate, insisting that the APC remained firmly established in Abia State.

He also predicted that Tinubu would win the state in the 2027 presidential election.

The former governor, however, cautioned the APC leadership in Abia to manage the party’s affairs with maturity, justice and fairness to prevent the emergence of factions.

He explained that APC members were invited to the stakeholders’ meeting as part of efforts to promote unity and strengthen the party ahead of the elections.

A former APC governorship aspirant in the state, Mascot Uzor Kalu, urged party members to close ranks and work collectively towards victory in 2027.

Mascot said he withdrew from the party’s governorship primary conducted last month in the interest of unity and peace within the APC.

He called on party members to support Tinubu’s re-election and vote for all APC candidates in Abia State during the 2027 general election.

Other speakers at the meeting, including George Nnanna Kalu and Uche Ogboso, commended Senator Kalu for what they described as quality representation and pledged to support his re-election.
