Akor Adams Dismisses Sevilla Exit Talk Amid Marseille Interest
Nigeria striker, Akor Adams, has played down speculation linking him with a move away from Sevilla, insisting he remains committed to the Spanish club despite growing interest from French side Marseille.
Akor Adams, 26, currently in camp with Nigeria ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against Portugal in Leiria, was reacting to reports in Spain suggesting he could be among the players set to leave the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán this summer.
Marseille are understood to be leading the chase for the forward and are reportedly preparing a bid worth around €18m. Sevilla, however, are said to value Adams closer to €25m and are not actively seeking to sell.
“I have not heard anything about that, but this is the transfer window, and there will always be many rumours,” Adams told Footy-Africa.
“It is not something that is important to me at the moment. I have a contract with Sevilla, and we have just come through a difficult season, so now is not really the time to focus on such things. It all depends on what happens, but I am happy at Sevilla. Rumours are part of football, but it is not something I am thinking about right now.”
Naija News reports that Adams joined Sevilla from Montpellier in January and initially struggled to make an impact, failing to register a goal or assist during his first few months at the club.
The story changed dramatically during the 2025/26 season. The Nigerian finished the campaign with 10 goals and three assists in 32 appearances, emerging as one of Sevilla’s most dependable performers as the club battled to retain their La Liga status.
His resurgence has not gone unnoticed. Clubs in England, Saudi Arabia and France have all been credited with interest, but Marseille appear to be the most determined suitors as they prepare for an ambitious summer rebuild and a stronger push for domestic honours next season.
The French club views Adams’ previous experience with Montpellier as a significant advantage, believing he could adapt quickly if a deal is completed.
Sevilla’s financial situation could yet influence the outcome. Under La Liga’s financial regulations, the club may need to raise funds through player sales before registering new signings, a factor that could force difficult decisions if a substantial offer arrives.
