Sandy Onor Only PDP Presidential Candidate — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the only presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 election is Sandy Onor.

Naija News reports that Wike stated this on Monday during his monthly media chat in Abuja.

He insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission recognises Wadata Plaza as the official national secretariat of the PDP.

Two factions of the PDP had produced different presidential candidates over the weekend.

The Wike-backed group produced Sandy Onor, while the Tanimu Turaki-led faction endorsed former President Goodluck Jonathan in absentia.

Jonathan has yet to comment on the development. Wike questioned the decision to endorse Jonathan without his public declaration of interest in the race.

Wike asked, “Do you pick someone who has not told you he wants to run for an election?.

“There is no faction in the PDP, the only presidential candidate of the PDP is Sandy Onor.”

The FCT minister said INEC must recognise the official secretariat of every political party. He argued that the recognised PDP secretariat remained Wadata Plaza.

“INEC must know the secretariat of all political parties. The INEC-recognized PDP secretariat is Wadata Plaza and not anyone’s private office or bedroom,” Wike said.
