Troops Kill Ex-Boko Haram Commander, Arrest Suspected Drone Supplier

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, have reportedly neutralised Abdullahi Mafa, said to be a former hybrid Boko Haram commander, during an operation in Madagali Local Government Area.

Security sources who spoke with security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the operation took place on Thursday when troops engaged suspected Boko Haram fighters in an ambush along the Visik River line.

According to Makama, the troops successfully overpowered the insurgents during the encounter, leading to the neutralisation of Mafa.

Details of casualties on the side of the troops were not immediately available at the time of filing this report.

In a separate operation, troops reportedly arrested a suspected logistics and drone supplier to the terrorists, identified as Dauda Usman Gubula, during a raid at the Madagali Motor Park.

Quoting officials, Makama said items recovered from the suspect included two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks, allegedly intended to support insurgent activities.

The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing investigation.

Military sources said troops have intensified operations in the area aimed at dismantling Boko Haram networks and restoring security.

Operation HADIN KAI, which is the Nigerian military’s counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East, has in recent months increased collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters to curb insurgent activities in affected communities.
