Laolu Akande Reveals Who Saved Him And Osinbajo From Death In Kogi Helicopter Crash Five Years Ago

Laolu Akande, ex-aide to former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has knocked lawmakers elected on the platforms of the Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to take up their opposition responsibility on the floor of the Nigerian National Assembly.

Faulting their conduct while speaking on Channel’s TV Sunrise Daily on Friday, the former vice presidential spokesperson, said, “It is interesting that the PDP issued a statement and said that they were afraid that this current president or this government is leading to totalitarianism, and I said, what did the PDP senators in the senate say? We had at least 30 PDP senators in the senate when the confirmation of the INEC REC was going on what did they say nothing.”

He argued that if the PDP and LP were going to be an opposition, they had to be a responsible opposition.

Naija News recalls that opposition and Civil Society Organisations had faulted the Nigerian Senate for confirming the appointment of the Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission despite reports that some of the REC nominated by President Bola Tinubu were into partisan politics.

In the wake of the incident, PDP cried foul, accusing the ruling party of slowly turning the country into a one-party system.
