Nigerian-born Irish winger, Chiedozie Ogbene is currently the fastest player in the English Premier League.

Chiedozie Ogbene, born in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 1, 1997, has hit 36.93 KM/hr in the Premier League, the fastest speed so far in the 2023-2024 season.

Ogbene plays with the newly promoted Premier League club, Luton Town. Even though the 26-year-old winger is almost unstoppable in speed, he has scored just a goal in 12 Premier League games.

Ogbene started his football journey in Ireland after he, his Nigerian parents, and his four siblings moved to the country in 2005.

After playing for the Cork City youth team, he joined the club’s senior team in 2016. Less than a season later, he moved to Limerick FC on a free transfer in 2017.

Chiedozie Ogbene moved to Brentford in 2018 but couldn’t establish himself at the club and had to move to lower-league clubs like Exeter City and Rotherham on loan.

He moved to Luton Town in July 2023, weeks after the club had gained promotion to the Premier League. Since then, he has played a total of 14 games in all competitions.

On June 8, 2021, Ogbene debuted for Ireland, his adopted home. Since then, he has played 19 times for the country’s senior team and has scored four goals.
