Court Remands Five Drug Barons In Lagos

A student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Demian Okoligwe, was placed on detention on Monday by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt for allegedly killing and removing some of his girlfriend Justina Otuene’s vital organs.

Naija News reports that the presiding Magistrate, N.O. Anugbum  directed that the Okoligwe case file be forwarded to the Rivers State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) office for legal counsel.

Pending the DPP’s recommendation, the case was adjourned for a subsequent hearing until December 15, 2023.

Last month, Okoligwe, a 400-level Petrochemical Engineering student, was paraded by former Rivers police commissioner CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka for allegedly killing his girlfriend Justina.

The police chief stated that the student’s arrest came about because a neighbour reported to Ozuoba Division police officers on October 25 that he was smelling a really foul smell in a room that Okoligwe occupied in the home where they both rent.

The state’s DPO led detectives to the residence, where the room causing the stench was forced open after the report was made. There, they discovered a Ghana must-go bag containing Justina’s lifeless body with some of her vital organs missing. Later, Okoligwe—the last person seen with Justina—was detained by the police.

There were rumours that the late Justina Otuene, who was completing her Industrial Training (I.T.) at a private hospital in Rukpokwu, close to Port Harcourt, had told some people she was going to her boyfriend’s house but that she had since vanished from sight.
