Kidnappers Demand N53 Million Ransom For Abducted Cleric, Others

Kidnappers in the Agbeku community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state have demanded a ransom of N53 million in exchange for the release of their victims.

The persons who have been kidnapped include a prominent clergyman and the Chairman of the ECWA Igbaja District Church Council, Pastor S.B. Oladunni.

Also, another gentleman and a woman identified as the spouse of a family head were kidnapped on Saturday evening.

The traditional ruler of Agbeku Land, Oba Abdulazeez Agboola, confirmed the ransom amounts in a telephone interview with journalists on Monday.

According to him, the kidnappers placed a N20 million ransom on the Reverend father, N30 million on the woman, and N3 million on the third person.

However, ongoing police investigations aim to unravel the details of the kidnap saga.

In a related development, three additional suspects were arrested by the police in connection with the kidnapping incident over the weekend.

The suspects are being held in custody at the Igbaja Divisional Police Headquarters as discreet investigations continue into the recent surge of kidnapping incidents in communities within the Kwara South Senatorial District.

In a positive turn, two victims from a previous kidnapping incident in Ora town, Ifelodun local government, were reportedly released on Monday morning, according to credible sources.

However, attempts to reach the police authorities for comment on the matter were unsuccessful as of Monday.
