Nigeria Immigration Service Gets New Spokesperson

The Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, has ordered an investigation into the incident that led to the ghastly accident that resulted in the deaths of four of its officials while on official duty.

In a statement by the public relations officer of Nigerian Immigration Services, Adedotun Aderibigbe, the CG directed all commands and formation heads to fly the service flag at half-mast to mourn the dead immigration officials.

“The Service stands firmly with those left behind by their breadwinners during this distressing period. An immediate investigation has been ordered by the Acting CGI to ascertain the remote cause of the accident,” the statement partly read.

“We are committed to understanding the circumstances that led to this tragic event and will take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” it added.

The CG directed “all Commands and Formation Heads to fly our flag at half-mast for the next seven days. We will observe a three-day mourning period in honor and memory of our fallen colleagues.”

Naija News recalls that a bus conveying officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service was involved in a ghastly accident on Sunday.

The immigration statement, however, disclosed that while four officials were confirmed to have died from the accident, seven others were currently receiving treatment for various degrees of injuries.
