Breaking: Campaign Council Speaks On Dino Melaye Withdrawing From Kogi Governorship Race

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of pushing narratives that its governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, has withdrawn from the state’s governorship election.

In a statement released on the official X account of PDP, the party alleged that there was a message in circulation suggesting that its candidate, Dino Melaye, had withdrawn from the state’s governorship election due to his loss of confidence in the electoral process.

“The attention of Dino/Deen gubernatorial campaign council has been drawn to a bulk SMS making the rounds that Senator Dino Melaye, @_dinomelaye the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig has withdrawn from the contest as a result of loss of confidence in the electoral process,” a statement released on the official handle of PDP read.

The party asked residents of Kogi State “to disregard such watery propaganda and treat as another fake news from those who know that they have already been rejected in Kogi state.

“The campaign council states that Senator Dino Melaye is confident of victory despite the propaganda and mechanisms by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Yahaya Bello to undermine the electoral process,” it added.

Naija News reports that the development comes amid unconfirmed reports that the candidate of PDP stayed away from his polling units in protest of wanton election malpractice at the ongoing governorship election.
