Chelsea will welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, after recording back-to-back victories, first against Blackburn in the Carabao Cup and then against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Despite their 4-1 win over Tottenham, they are still languishing in 10th place. They have lost three of their last four top-flight games at home, which accounts for their nine-point deficit between them and the top four and the relegation zone. Their lone Premier League triumph at Stamford Bridge in 13 games came against the newly promoted Luton Town.

As for Manchester City, they are travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea after two big wins – a 6-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League, and a 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League.

They are currently topping the Premier League table with 27 points in 11 games, a point ahead of second-placed Tottenham.

The treble winners lost their attacking advantage against Arsenal, but they have since scored 17 goals in their last five games. They have only dropped a single point in the top flight this season when playing away from home, and in 2023 they have only kept five Premier League clean sheets.

The bad news for Chelsea is that the West London side have not recorded a win against Manchester City in their last five games. The last time Chelsea defeated Manchester City was their 1-0 victory over coach Pep Guardiola in the Champions League final in 2021.

Team News

Enzo Fernandez has returned to full training after surviving a severe tackle from Tottenham’s Romero last Monday.

Chelsea’s players like Wesley Fofana (knee), Ben Chilwell (thigh), Romeo Lavia (ankle), Christopher Nkunku (knee), Trevoh Chalobah (thigh), and Carney Chukwuemeka (knee), are expected to miss the Stamford Bridge showdown on Sunday.

Recce James who decided to snub the Three Lions of England November call-up, is expected to be available for the Chelsea vs Manchester City clash.

As for Manchester City, the reigning Premier League side are expected to be without John Stones. Manuel Akanji suffered a back injury, and earlier this month, backup left back Sergio Gomez sprained his ankle in training.

The aforementioned players and Kevin De Bruyne who is battling an acute thigh problem, are expected to miss the Premier League game.

Chelsea Probable starting lineup: Sanchez; James, Disasi, Silva, Colwill; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson

Manchester City Probable starting lineup: Ederson; Dias, Ake, Gvardiol; Walker, Rodri, Kovacic, Doku; Silva, Alvarez; Haaland

Prediction:

As expected, Manchester City have a 56 percent chance of beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The hosts have just a 19 percent chance of pulling a surprise in front of their home fans. Naija News is predicting that the Premier League game will end in a 2-1 victory for coach Pep Guardiola and his boys.
