President Tinubu Gives Fresh Appointment To Dangote, Elumelu, Others As He Sets Up PECC, EET

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Canadian government, the diplomatic community, and all those impacted by the recent fire incident at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.

The President assured the Canadian authorities that the Nigerian government would do everything in its power to assist the High Commission’s local and diplomatic workers, who were particularly impacted by the tragedy.

President Tinubu offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and wished a speedy and complete recovery to everyone who had been hurt.

As previously reported, a fire incident occurred at the High Commission of Canada’s building in Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday.

Information gathered by Naija News indicated that the fire broke out at 13010G, Palm Close, Diplomatic Drive, Central Business District in Abuja, just minutes before noon.

Meanwhile, a source who provided an account of the incident to journalists hours after the event explained that two other individuals had sustained injuries, apart from those who had lost their lives.

The source clarified that the fire had started a few minutes after 11:00 a.m. in the generator house while the power generating plants were undergoing maintenance.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity because she wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter, the source informed Daily Trust that the Federal Fire Service (FFS) had effectively controlled the fire.

The area was cordoned off, and investigators were expected to determine the cause of the fire. It started from the generator house, not the main building,” said another source who also wished to remain anonymous.

Furthermore, he added, “There is a diesel tank near the generator house, and I think perhaps due to the temperature, the diesel tank exploded. A service provider from a generator servicing company, which I’d rather not name, lost one of their personnel, and one of the embassy’s staff also lost their life. The other two injured individuals are receiving medical attention in the hospital.
