Naija News had earlier reported that an irate mob on Wednesday, set ablaze two suspected criminals who were allegedly terrorizing residents of Sokoto Road.

The rioters lynched the suspects before setting them ablaze. An eyewitness who verified the occurrence with Daily Trust stated that the suspects were apprehended trying to rob a tricycle operator inside the market of his money and possessions.

“The tricycle operator had dropped his passengers and their goods in the market, and as he was about to move, those boys approached him and were forcefully attempting to dispossess him of his money and others before the mobs descended on them, lynched them before setting them ablaze,” the eyewitness reportedly said.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence to reporters. He said that CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police, disapproved of the behaviour and repeated his request that the public always bring criminals to the closest police station so that appropriate action may be taken.
