Kassim Afegbua Declares Governorship Ambition

A former Commissioner of Information in Edo State, Kassim Afegbua, has said he is looking for a Godfather who will make him the Governor of the South-South state.

Speaking on Wednesday in an interview on Arise News, the former commissioner declared his intention to contest in the 2024 governorship election in Edo state.

Afegbua stated that he has the capacity and competence to become the governor of the state and advance governance across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

He said: “At every point, a political Godson must be grateful for those who put together their political influence. I am looking for such a godfather who will make me the governor of Edo State.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain stated that he has studied the last seven years of the Godwin Obaseki administration, stressing that he can do better than the present government.

He said: “I have what it takes to advance governance across the 18 LGA’s In Edo. I have studied the last 7 years of Obaseki, and I have seen a lot of pretence at play. I think I can do better.”

Speaking further, Afegbua stated that the issue of zoning has not been an issue or played a dominant role in Edo, adding that in the last 16 years, there have been aspirants from Edo Central who weren’t stopped from contesting but didn’t win.
