The manager of Crystal Palace, Roy Hodgson is hoping that Nigerian-born England forward, Eberechi Eze would extend his contract with the club as soon as possible.

Eberechi Eze joined Crystal Palace from the Championship club, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in August 2020. Then, he signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club.

Since the 25-year-old Eze joined the Premier League side, he has made 102 appearances in all competitions.

He has been so good that Chelsea made efforts to sign him during last summer’s transfer window. Amid that, Palace were able to convince him to extend his contract to 2025.

Last season, the attacking midfielder finished as Crystal Palace’s top scorer with 10 goals in 40 games in all competitions. He also recorded four assists.

Due to his prolific form, Eze was invited to the Three Lions of England team and made his debut for his country of birth as a substitute in a 4-0 victory over Malta on June 16, 2023.

Even though he is battling an injury and his current contract with the club would expire on June 30, 2025, the club is already making efforts to extend the deal as confirmed by the club’s coach, Roy Hodgson.

“I believe the club are working very hard with Eberechi Eze,” Hodgson said ahead of their Premier League game against Burnley which will kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 4.

He added, “They are very confident it won’t be too long before they can announce him as well.

“These matters are taken care of by [chairman] Steve Parish and [sporting director] Dougie Freedman, they keep me informed.

“But certainly, they are optimistic it won’t take too long to get Eze to commit his future as well.”
