I Made A Mistake With Fubara, Will Correct It At The Appropriate Time - Wike Opens Up On Rivers State Crisis

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ordered all stakeholders in the crisis currently broiling in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in a statement on Tuesday, signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba said the internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party has been activated.

The party leadership assured that all areas of disagreement would be addressed and called on the members of the party in Rivers State to come together and focus on governance.

The statement reads: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calls on all actors in the disagreement in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and allow for peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues.

“The NWC urges all PDP members and supporters to be calm and assures that it has commenced processes, using the Party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement are addressed.

“The NWC therefore charges all leaders, critical stakeholders and members of our great Party in Rivers State to close ranks, unite and focus on the onerous task of governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.”

It is understood that a leadership tussle between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike has caused heightened political tension in the state.

In the heat of the happenings, Fubara was teargassed and hosed on his way to the House of Assembly on Monday, October 30.

A faction of the State House of Assembly also served an impeachment notice on Governor Fubara while the Governor insisted the lawmakers have no basis to sack him.
