BREAKING: PDP Governors To Meet Wike Over Rivers Crisis

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have summoned an emergency meeting to address the impeachment threat against Governor Similanayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Naija News learned that the meeting will take place today (Tuesday) at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, and will be chaired by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed.

A source close to one of the governors told Daily Trust that the meeting is expected to broker peace between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The source added that the PDP governors are not happy with the unfolding events in Rivers State and are poised to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

He said, “The governors are really surprised at what is happening; they are not happy and want to discuss within themselves and find a solution to the problem.

“You know Rivers is a PDP state even though the FCT minister is working with President Tinubu; he is still a member of the PDP. I believe that is why they want to meet immediately.”

Recall that there was an attempt to impeach the governor on Monday after yet-to-be-identified arsonists set the hallowed chamber ablaze as a ploy to stop the alleged impeachment plot against Fubara.

Later, the majority leader of the House, Edison Ehie, was removed, and suspended, and an impeachment notice was sent to the governor.

However, in a twist of event, Ehie emerged as the factional speaker of the House and the Chief Judge of the state was removed.
