You Lack Moral Ground To Give Lecture On Democracy - Rafsanjani Fires Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has reacted to the death of Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson.

Naija News reports that Obasanjo, in a statement released by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Saturday, said the late educationist contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria in general.

The elder statesman said he knew Alaba Lawson was down but did not know the reason behind it.

He said Lawson was a fantastic human being and a no-nonsense person, adding that she was hardworking and had a very generous personality.

He said, “Iyalode Lawson lived a worthwhile life, and she did well in life. I knew she had been down, but I don’t really know the cause.

“I will miss her sorely.”

The former president recalled that he honoured Lawson with a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) national award for her contributions to the economic growth of the country and community development.

Lawson, who died at the age of 72, was the former president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

She was also an astute politician, an entrepreneur of note and an academician.

Lawson was born on January 18, 1951, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Her passing was announced via a statement released by the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Maku.
