A former chairman of Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government area of Benue State, Elder Washima Erukaa has been killed by his adductors.

Naija News understands Erukaa who was abducted by gunmen on the 23rd of September, in his Zakibiam residence, Ukum Local Government area of Benue state.

His kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N12 million for his release but subsequently reduced it to N5 million.

However, it was gathered that the 80-year-old man was later killed and has since been buried by his abductors.

A family source quoted by The Nation said the kidnappers informed them that Erukaa, died in the hands of his captors and has since been buried.

The source said: “One of the abductors informed a member of the family that Erukaa died since and they buried him so they will not deceive us into paying ransom.

“His abductors first demanded N12million ransom but subsequently reduced it to N5million.”

The spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, SP Kate Aneene, is yet to confirm the killing of Elder Erukaa.

Gunmen Kill Three IDPs In Benue Community

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have reportedly killed three Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.

Reports made available to newsmen revealed that the individuals had gone fishing in the Gwer West Local Government Area of the state when some suspected armed men accosted them.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of Agagbe IDP camp in Gwer West LGA, Ibaah Terna Jacob, told Daily Trust that the citizens were killed last week Monday.

He identified the victims as Igbahemba Abua, Iorhemba Cletus and Akaa Clifford.

Jacob said that the trio had gone fishing in the Gbange/Tongov council ward of Gwer West and did not return when it was night.

He said during a search for them, an eyewitness informed them that they were chased by armed invaders who opened gunfire on them.
