The PUNCH: The Supreme Court, on Thursday, ended the 171-day legal tussle to nullify the election of President Bola Tinubu with the rejection of the election appeals filed by the Peoples Democratic Party standard bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. Atiku and Obi’s appeals commenced on May 8 and were concluded on Thursday, October 26, with the Supreme Court effectively ending their dreams of overturning Tinubu’s election victory.


The Guardian: Despite the passage into law in 2015 of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, cases of domestic, and sexual violence have been upswing across states, even though, the main thrust of the law was to eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence against person, provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders and other related matters.


The Nation: It was a sweet victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday. The Supreme Court affirmed his victory in the February 25 presidential election, ending eight months of litigation. On September 6, the five justices of the Court of Appeal sitting as the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) unanimously dismissed the petitions against the President.


Daily Trust: The Supreme Court on Thursday resolved the eight-month legal battle over the outcome of the February 25 presidential election in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It dismissed the separate appeals by the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for lacking in merit and being vexatious.
