'How Would Jesus Say Leave Washington And Go And Live In Ogbomoso?' - Soun Shares How He Accepted To Become King

A palace source has revealed the next move of Oba Ghandi Olaoye concerning his sack by an Oyo State High Court as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.

Naija News reported on Wednesday that the appointment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye was overturned by the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso.

Recalls that the Oyo State Government, on the 8th of September, 2023, announced Pastor Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun and made him king.

Before this time, one of the contestants, Kabir Laoye, had sued Ghandi Olaoye, noting that he was not eligible to take Soun’s position.

The Oyo state High Court in Ogbomoso at the time had reportedly restrained Governor Seyi Makinde, the Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters or anyone else from presenting any instrument of office in any form of ceremony or issuing certificate of installation to Olaoye until the final determination of the mandatory injunction already filed before the court.

The Areago High Chief, Sobalaje Otolorin, however, disclosed that the kingmakers were not aware of a restraining order by any court.

Reacting to the court’s verdict, a palace source who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the new Soun would be heading to the appeal court to challenge the judgement of the High Court.

The source called for calm among the people of Ogbomososland, saying the Appeal Court would settle the issue and make things clearer.

The palace source told The Punch on Wednesday that “The case will definitely be appealed, and so, people should not fret. In the case instituted by Prince Olaoye, the judge said the process was proper and valid, but now the same process is faulted. It is conflicting, the Appeal Court will resolve that. People should be calm.”

After the death of the late Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021, the seat was vacant until September 8, 2023, when Ghandi was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomosho.
