Aisha Condemns Appointment Of Onochie As INEC Commissioner

The former chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Lauretta Onochie, has tackled the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the visit of Southwest governors to Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Naija News reported that Governors present at the meeting, held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday, included, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.

In a post via X on Wednesday, Lauretta, while commending the Southwest Governors, expressed displeasure at the lack of empathy shown towards leaders suffering from adverse health conditions.

She noted that humanity should be prioritised above everything, stressing that PDP in Osun State would have also visited Akeredolu as it would have endeared them to the people.

She wrote: “Humanity first. Yesterday, The Southwest governors showed that we are capable of being humans. They paid a visit to Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, who has been battling a health condition.

“I have watched with dismay and disgust at the lack of humanity, lack of empathy and total absence of sympathy some of us showcase towards leaders who are suffering from adverse health conditions.

“No one wakes up in the morning, praying to be afflicted by an ailment. It just happens and it can happen to anyone.

“How can we lay claim to humanity when we have no feelings? How can we lay claim to humanity when EVERYTHING is guided by the hostile politics we play in Nigeria?

“Heavens would not have fallen had PDP in Osun state, done what the South West governors have just done. It would have endeared them to the people.

“Where is our humanity? People in other camps, are humans too. Humanity first.

“Thank you, Your Excellencies, for showing the world that Nigerians are humans.

“My prayers and thoughts are with @RotimiAkeredolu, @floondo, and their family at this difficult time.”
