In the friendly game against Mozambique on October 16, the 26-year-old defender played for 75 minutes before he was replaced by Calvin Bassey in the game that ended in a 3-2 win in favour of the Super Eagles.

In an interview with Transfermarkt, Jordan Torunarigha, who currently plays for Belgian Pro League club, Gent said it feels “very special” to play for the Super Eagles.

While discussing his goals as a Super Eagles player, Torunarigha said, “I have two big goals with Nigeria: the Africa Cup of Nations next year and the World Cup in 2026. I will and we will give everything for that.”

On how he felt during his first game for the Eagles, the defender added, “It was a very special moment and I’m really proud. Nigeria is a team with many top players and great characters that you enjoy being on the pitch with.

“We won, that’s always the most important thing. We would have liked to keep a clean sheet, but it was fun on the field. I hope the coach and my teammates were happy.”
