The manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, has hailed Harry Maguire, who gave an unprecedented performance against Sheffield United on Saturday night, October 21.

Ten Hag stunned most Manchester United fans when he decided to start the heavily criticized Harry Maguire in the league game against Sheffield United.

To the surprise of many, the 30-year-old England international gave an unprecedented account of himself and even won the Player of the match award as United beat Sheffield United 2-1 away from home.

Earlier today, coach Erik ten Hag said: “Harry Maguire is playing like we want him to play, dominating his opponent. I am happy with his performances”.

“He deserved the MOTM award yesterday. He played a really good game, and read the game very well. I am pleased for him”.

Harry Maguire joined Manchester United on August 5, 2019, for a transfer fee worth €87 million. He was an instant hit at the club and was even made the club’s captain in his debut season.

Unfortunately for him, due to consistent erroneous defending, he struggled to maintain his spot in United’s first eleven and even lost his captaincy at the beginning of this season.

But due to injury woes at the club in recent weeks, Maguire has had more game time than envisaged and has taken the opportunity to prove to Manchester United fans that he is still the top defender they signed in 2019.

So far this season, he has played five games in all competitions in which he has managed to provide an assist. His contract with United will expire on June 30, 2025.
